Your Energy Baseline

Three areas shape your energy. From your answers, sleep and recovery is taking the most right now.

It is also the best place to start, because when sleep improves the other two usually ease with it. None of this points to anything broken. It points to where to begin.

Your reading at a glance
Bottom line
Your energy is leaking first from sleep and recovery, with stress and hormones close behind. Both are workable, and the order matters. Start with sleep, and the rest gets easier.
Next move
Three free changes first, weighted to sleep. Then, if you want to see what is underneath, an initial consultation with the team.
01 · What your result means

Your three areas, in order.

We grouped your fourteen answers into three areas and put them in order. The one at the top is pulling on your energy the most right now, so that is where to start. Further up the list means more of your energy is going there.

Here is each area in plain English, starting at the top, with the answers it is built from. Energy rarely comes from one thing, so we connect the dots across all three.

1Sleep & recoveryStart here
You saidmornings feel groggy no matter how long you were in bed, and you wake up already tired.

This is how well your body rests at night and rebuilds for the next day. When it slips, mornings feel groggy, a busy stretch takes longer to shake off, and your energy runs out before it should. It is usually the first place worth looking. The team reads sleep alongside the stress and hormone signals that decide how well a night actually restores you.

2Stress & hormones
You saidyour mind keeps running at night and you rarely feel switched off.

This is how well you switch off, and how steady your mood, drive, and spark feel. When it slips, your mind keeps going after the day is done, and motivation flattens. In your forties and fifties the hormones underneath shift too (the cortisol rhythm, thyroid, and for women the perimenopause change), and they often move together. Easing the load and reading those signals tends to lift the rest.

3Nutrition & drive
You saidyour energy dips hard in the afternoon and the usual pick-me-ups stopped working.

This is how steady your energy stays between meals and how much drive you have to spend. When it slips, afternoons bring slumps and cravings, and everyday effort feels heavier. How your body handles fuel, and the nutrients it is short on, shape this pattern long before a standard check would flag it.

This reading is built only from your fourteen answers. It is a considered starting point, not a medical diagnosis, and it does not replace a visit with your own physician.

Sleep that does not restore.
Common from the late 40s · Usually the first area to slip, and one of the first to respond

Two of your answers line up into one picture.

You wake groggy no matter how long you slept, and your mind keeps running at night so you rarely feel switched off. So the day starts with a deficit, and a busy stretch takes longer than it should to clear.

These feed each other. A shallow night leaves less in the tank, and a wired evening makes the next night harder to settle. Round it goes.

None of this is unusual in your late forties and fifties, and none of it means anything is broken. A body that used to reset and rebuild overnight is just not finishing the job.

Think of a phone that charges to 80 percent and stops. It still works, but it runs low by the afternoon and you spend the day hunting for a top-up. Nothing is wrong with the battery. The charge is just not completing.

Signs sleep is landing

  • You wake clear, without needing caffeine to function
  • Energy holds into the evening
  • A busy stretch is shaken off by the next morning
  • Your mind switches off when the day is done

Signs it needs work

  • Waking groggy after a full night in bed
  • A busy stretch taking days to clear
  • A mind that keeps running at night
  • Weekends spent recovering from the week
02 · Three free things to start with
At home · free · start this week

Three changes you can start this week.

These come first because they are free and worth trying before anything clinical. Two are matched to the area taking the most, sleep and recovery, and one to switching off in the evening. None of them need a prescription, a supplement, or a clinic visit.

01

Wake at the same time every day, weekends included.

A fixed wake time lines up your body clock, the daily rhythm that runs your energy and overnight repair, within about ten days. Bedtime can move a little. The wake time should not. It is the cheapest lever you have on groggy mornings.
For sleep & recovery
02

Get ten minutes of daylight within an hour of waking.

Morning light is the signal that sets the clock for the whole day, including how deeply you sleep that night. Step outside with your coffee, or take the long way to the kitchen. Cloudy McLean skies still count. Give it a week and watch your mornings.
For sleep & recovery
03

Give the last hour to winding down, laptop closed.

A mind that keeps running keeps the night shallow, and a shallow night is where sleep and drive both leak. A fixed stop time, screens dimmed, and something calm tells the body the day is over. Two weeks of this is enough to feel whether the evenings start to soften.
For stress & hormones

Two to three weeks of these will tell you a lot. The check below is how to know whether they have done their job, or whether a closer look is what closes the gap.

After two weeks of doing these consistently

Signs the changes are working

  • Mornings feel clearer on waking
  • Energy holds later into the evening
  • The afternoon dip is softer than it was
  • Your mind settles more easily at night

Signs the changes are not enough

  • Still waking groggy after a full night
  • Afternoons still crashing hard
  • Drive and spark still flat
  • Two weeks in, nothing has really shifted

If the left column is true, you have your answer at home, and that is a genuinely good outcome. If the right column is true, that is useful information too. It points to something underneath that only a closer look can settle, and that is what the initial consultation is for.

03 · A story like yours

How someone with a result like yours turned it around.

The starting point. A McLean woman in her early fifties came in with almost the same reading. A full schedule, still active, but mornings that started groggy and an afternoon crash that no amount of coffee would fix. Sleep and recovery was taking the most.

First, the free steps. She started with the same changes in section 02: a fixed wake time, ten minutes of morning daylight, and a real wind-down at night. Within two weeks her mind settled more easily and falling asleep got easier. That part worked.

Then, what the steps could not reach. The groggy mornings and the afternoon crashes did not fully lift. So she booked an initial consultation. A closer look connected dots a standard check had missed: her hormones were shifting with perimenopause, her stress markers were running high, and she was short on a couple of nutrients that steady daily energy.

The plan that followed. The team kept the free steps, supported her hormones through the change, used acupuncture to help her system settle at night, and topped up the nutrients she was low on. Over the next few months the mornings cleared, the afternoon crashes eased, and the drive she had been missing came back.

The free steps did real work on their own. The consultation is simply what found the parts she could not see by feel.

04 · If you want to look deeper

The tools built for a result like yours.

Kaplan Center for Integrative Medicine is an integrative, whole-person clinic. The work starts with a medical consultation, where a clinician looks at your whole picture and decides what, if anything, fits you. Here is what that looks like for a result like yours, in plain terms. None of it starts from a quiz.

For sleep & recovery
Acupuncture & Eastern medicine

Acupuncture with a licensed practitioner, plus physical therapy where a nagging strain is keeping the body from settling, used to calm an overactive system and help sleep do its repair work.

Why it fits your resultWhen a wired mind keeps the night shallow, helping your system settle is often what lets your energy reset overnight again.
For stress & hormones
Women's Hormone Health

Perimenopause and menopause care, guided by specialty and functional testing that shows the hormone and stress-marker picture a standard panel tends to miss.

Why it fits your resultA racing mind at night, a flat drive, and mornings that never feel restored often trace back to the hormone shift underneath. This is the part most closely tied to feeling like yourself again.
For nutrition & drive
Longevity program & IV therapy

A longevity and anti-aging program paired with IV therapy, used to replete the nutrients that steady daily energy and to keep drive and body composition moving together instead of against you.

Why it fits your resultAfternoon crashes and pick-me-ups that stopped working trace back to how steadily your body handles fuel, and what it is short on. This is the track built for that.
None of these start from a quiz. The right next step is a medical consultation. A clinician looks at your answers and your whole picture, suggests a closer look only if it makes sense, and many people leave with the free plan and nothing to buy at all.
A note from the team

Karen, a result like yours is common, and it is one of the more workable ones we see. Nothing here is broken. Sleep that is not quite finishing the job tends to pull on everything else, and it is usually the first thing to respond. Start with the three changes above this week. They cost nothing and you do not need us to begin. If you want to know exactly what is behind the groggy mornings and the afternoon crashes, that is what the consultation is for, with no pressure either way.

"We look at the whole person and help you connect the dots, so we can work on the root cause and not just the symptoms."

05 · The next step

The reading is done. The next step is yours.

Start with the three changes in section 02. They cost nothing and they begin the work this week. If you want to know what is actually behind the groggy mornings, the next step is an initial consultation. Here is exactly what that is, so there are no surprises.

What the first visit is, exactly.

A conversation with the Kaplan Center for Integrative Medicine team, by phone, video, or in person. New patient visits start at $495 for 60 minutes with a physician who has already read your answers. They are fee-for-service and do not bill insurance, so the cost is clear before you book.

Who you see
The integrative team, with your answers and this reading already in front of them. Not a salesperson.
What you cover
What your three areas mean, whether a closer look makes sense for a pattern like yours, and a clear starting point.
What you leave with
A clear next step, whether that is hormone care, acupuncture, the longevity program, or simply the free changes you already have.
The pace
Time with a clinician who listens, not a sales pitch. You decide how far to take it, and when.
